SS Jingle Bells born December 7th!

While walking through the meadows to get our Christmas tree from our hills, we noticed a grey mare all by herself, away from the herd. This is typically not a good sign, as this usually only happens when the horse is sick or injured, especially outside of foaling season. Overcome with worry, we hurried toward her to investigate. As we got closer, we realized it was our dear mare, Flamenka, the 25 yr old *Gedymin daughter (out of Florida by *Elkin out of *Fantazja). Despite the months of pasture exposure the year before, due to her age and persistent estrous cycles, it never occurred to us that she could have been expecting. It was only after we got closer to her that we realized not only was she not sick or injured, she had the most gorgeous baby standing next to her! From a distance, the filly appeared to be jet black and covered in two inches of thick winter coat (nature is amazing!), without a single speck of white anywhere on her body! Upon closer inspection, however, we found a few single white hairs over her eyelids, and we all know what that means! (For newcomers to the Arabian breed, this means she will be grey.) She was so adorable we wanted to just wrap her up, put a bow on her head, and stick her under the Christmas tree for all to enjoy! She looks like another great filly we had 20 yrs ago named SS Anna Maria--no wonder, since SS Anna Maria was full sister to SS Jingle Bell's sire, SS Arkadash!
